Spencers Point Post Office

"With regard to Dr. Garrard's query in Bulletin No. 12 I have just received the following information from the Bahamas;"

'Spences Point was a Post Office especially established for the benefit of the community that grew up around the mills of the Bahamas Lumber Co. When the company had worked out the forest in its first location it moved elsewhere and the community ceased to exist. There being no further need for postal facilities the Post Office was closed. This took place some time during World War I. Similar postmarks of subsequent locations were Millville and Norman's Castle, both of which were also on Abaco Island. In recent years the lumber company went to Grand Bahamas, the new settlement being known as Pine Ridge. Spencers Point is close to Wilson City.
