OUR PRESIDENT'S PARAGRAPH

Our meeting which I attended at the 'Royal' on Saturday, October 27th, 1956 was most enjoyable and once again we had some very unusual items shown to us by various members which are referred to in detail elsewhere. Whilst the attendance was very good I would like to emphasise that there is ample accommodation for many more and I should like to see a few more visitors taking advantage of the welcome that is always accorded them. The Sales Circuit has got off to a flying start after what I know to have been a considerable amount of hard work by Rose Titford. It was a new experience to receive an envelope containing mainly material of my pet colony - Jamaica - and I have no doubt that this method of selective distribution will be appreciated. I am sure I am voicing the thoughts of all members when I take this opportunity to thank her very much for all she has done which cannot but help our Circle very materially. I hope all members will do their best to contribute something from time to time and so ensure the continuance of this new branch of the Circle's activities. I feel the time has now arrived for us to seriously consider compiling, and possibly publishing, some handbooks on the various colonies and dependencies which comprise the B.W.I, group. As many are aware Jamaica was well and truly done many years ago, but even this could do with an up-to-date revision. Much has been written about the larger colonies but little has appeared in book form. The smaller colonies have had scant attention and of postal history - the interest in which has increased enormously in recent years - little indeed has been published. Who will be the first to start?

G. W. COLLETT.
